The stoic demeanor and silence displayed by members of the US Women’s soccer group through the taking part in of the nationwide anthem on the opening match of the World Cup final week angered Megyn Kelly, who known as their conduct “disgusting.”
Kelly reacted on Monday to photographs from the US group’s first group match on Friday towards Vietnam, which the Americans received 3-0.
Before the match in Auckland, New Zealand, each golf equipment lined up for the singing of their nations’ respective anthems.
While the Vietnamese girls’s gamers all positioned their proper palms on their hearts and sang alongside to their nationwide hymn, only some of the Americans belted out “The Star-Spangled Banner” because it performed all through the stadium.
The group’s starters together with Alex Morgan, Andi Sullivan, Sophia Smith, Naomi Girma, Emily Fox, Trinity Rodman and Crystal Dunn seemingly determined to not mouth the phrases to the anthem.
Others, together with Alyssa Naeher and Lindsey Horan, did sing the track.

Kelly chalked up the silence to a model of feminism that fosters anti-American animus.
“I actually do consider their model of what a feminist is, what it means to be an empowered lady, at the least as an American lady, means you have to hate your nation,” the outspoken podcaster instructed her viewers on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
“It means to exit on the nationwide stage and embarrass your self and your nation by not singing the nationwide anthem.”

Kelly added: “For a number of of them, not even holding their palms over their hearts when the nationwide anthem performed, that was a bridge too far.”
“They couldn’t be bothered to truly place their hand on their coronary heart because the nationwide anthem performed, as they stood on the market representing you and me and the nation and our army and individuals who have given their lives for the nation that they characterize,” Kelly mentioned.
“It was an excessive amount of of an effort [for them] to position their hand over their coronary heart, or God forbid, sing.”

Kelly blamed Megan Rapinoe, the outspoken girls’s group star who has generated controversy in years previous for expressing political opinions associated to race, gender identification and different points.
“She mentioned she’ll by no means stand once more for the nationwide anthem, this [team behavior] is clearly, I believe, on account of her affect, and it’s disgusting,” Kelly mentioned of Rapinoe, who was not among the many starters for Friday’s sport.
Earlier this month, Rapinoe instructed Time journal that critics have been inflating the phenomenon of transgender girls changing biologically born girls in sports activities.

She mentioned she would have no hassle accepting a transgender lady on the group, prompting Kelly to name her a “dumbass.”
“This lady Megan Rapinoe has an issue,” Kelly mentioned.
“Just final week, she was on the market saying, ‘What’s the matter with trans athletes taking part in towards girls? Where are all these trans athletes who’re taking away girls’s rights?’”

“‘Obviously she’s a dumbass who pays no consideration to the information,” Kelly mentioned.
“It would take about two seconds of a Google so that you can give you a protracted checklist which I learn to her partly when she made that inane assertion.”
Rapinoe and the US Women’s National Team weren’t obtainable for remark.

The two-time defending champions will get one other probability to point out their nationwide satisfaction once they take the sphere Wednesday towards the Netherlands in Wellington, New Zealand.
