He’s got killer instincts.
A self-described “demonologist” is speaking out about what motivates serial killers after decades spent studying murderers and performing exorcisms across the US.
Chris DeFlorio first came into contact with the depraved and deranged during his 19-year stint as an officer for the New York Police Department.
The Big Apple native later became interested in “religious demonology” and quit the force to become a full-time exorcist.
Today, he operates the New York Demonic Investigation — a non-profit that sees him try to expunge evil spirits from those with homicidal tendencies.
“I believe the public and law enforcement can be educated in what to look for through a checklist of warning signs,” the exorcism expert declared in an interview with Jam Press on Friday.
DeFlorio says the most infamous serial killers after often motivated by power and control, including Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy.
“The evil committed by these types of killers terrorized society and changed the way we go about our daily lives even today,” he declared.
However, he believes that other serial killer are obsessed with the dark arts and appeared to be possessed by evil spirits.
He claims one such murderer is Lori Vallow Daybell — the so-called “doomsday cult mom” recently convicted of killing two of her young children.
“She had delusions, hearing from angels, an obsession with end of times, and through the teaching of [her husband] Chad Daybell, trying to discern light and dark spirits in people,” he declared.
“She was manipulative, deceitful, had a lack of remorse, empathy and more,” he further stated. “[But] What made this case harder to solve was that she was a female serial killer.”
“According to the book ‘Criminal Behavior: A Psychological Approach’, female psychopaths tend to be more subtle and skillful in their aggression, in their exploitative relationships, and in their manipulation of others, indicating that many of their harmful acts go unnoticed by the authorities,” DeFlorio told Jam Press.
“She used these tactics to avoid becoming noticed as a danger – even before the murders were committed.”
DeFlorio says “education and awareness” about different types of serial killers are vital in order to prevent more horrific homicides from taking place.
While the methodical and megalomaniacal murderers like Bundy, Dahmer and Gacy often command more public attention, the exorcist says those obsessed with evil spirits — such Vallow Daybell — are not exactly uncommon.
“I receive over a hundred calls for help a month, ranging from haunted homes to family members being possessed.
DeFlorio and his wife Harmony — who assists in the exorcisms — have traveled across the country to expunge dark spirits.
They hit headlines in 2022 after they traveled to Maine upon receiving a call from a resident suffering from a witchcraft curse.
“This is not entertainment but people’s lives are literally at stake,” DeFlorio told a local outlet at the time. “What I can tell you about this case is that witchcraft is very real and may be happening to you at this very moment.”
