A Department of Justice lawyer who led a years-long investigation into Hunter Biden is the son of a crooked Internal Revenue Service agent, data present.
Meyer Weiss — whose son David served because the US Attorney for Delaware — was convicted in 1985 of taking greater than $200,000 from businessmen seeking to skirt federal tax legal guidelines, in line with the nonprofit Marco Polo.
The elder Weiss labored on the IRS in Philadelphia from 1955 to 1984. The story of his shame was lined by the Washington Post in 1984.
“Mr. Weiss confessed and cooperated within the investigation,” court docket data learn.
He was sentenced to 4 years in jail and fined $100,000. Records present that the elder Weiss paid in-part for his son’s faculty and legislation faculty tuition with cash he acquired in bribes.
David Weiss has confronted criticism from Republicans and whistleblowers throughout the IRS who say he allowed Hunter Biden to obtain a sweetheart plea deal for tax evasion.
