Beachgoers at a cove in California made a run for it after two sea lions seemingly charged at folks on the shore.
A video shared by Instagram consumer @whoisjaphet reveals two sea lions taking up the seaside amid summer time crowds at rocky La Jolla Cove in San Diego, California, on Sunday, July 23.
“Please give that enormous, male sea lion loads of room,” a lifeguard will be heard saying over a loudspeaker. “They have bitten folks, and they’re protected animals.”
After the lifeguard made the announcement, some cautious beachgoers started to pack up and trudge up the rocky shoreline.
Others – making an attempt to get close-up footage of the ocean lion – bided their time till the roughly 600 lb. aquatic mammal charged out of the water, in the direction of folks.
Another aggressive sea lion is seen launching out of the water, with shocking agility, and barking loudly – inflicting seaside goers to shriek and rapidly depart the cove.
No beachgoers had been damage within the incident.
